Introduction

CEFG-- the group of Computational, Comparative, Evolutionary and Functional Genomics at UESTC. Cefg focuses on the genomic informatics researches, paticularly of microbes. In detail, computational genomics involves identification of important genes, such as essential genes, non-coding RNA and genomic islands from complete genomic sequences by combining machine learning methods and compositional, omics and/or evolutionary features. For comparative genomics, we try to find novel phenomenon or universal rules through comprehensive analysis across diverse genomes. Whereas evolutionary genomics indicates investigating the effects of various factors on substitution rates and mutation rates. Finally, functional genomics corresponds to construction of metabolic networks and interaction networks by systematic biological methods and validating functions of some interested genes by experimental methods.
